Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator

Having had my eye on it for a while now, I finally decided to take the plunge and purchased the Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator from Lovehoney.co.uk. I actually bought it at the beginning of March but have only just got round to writing the review.

For a vibrating sex toy this lifelike vibe is incredibly realistic looking. Measuring 6 inches in insertable length and 5 inches in girth, it's a little on the larger side. It is made from a firm, yet somewhat flexible skin safe rubber which is both latex and phthalates free, and is really soft and smooth to touch. It does tend to pick up bits of lint but cleaning before use is always recommended. The vibrator boasts a realistic head, detailed raised veins along the shaft, firm testicles and even a
little dimple for the urethral orifice; the attention to detail is impeccable - think of it as a no nonsense boyfriend! What is not so realistic however is the wire coming out of the base and of course the suction cup, although the suction cup is perfect for some hands-free play and stimulation, whether you have the toy vibrating or not is up to you. However you decide to use the vibrator, just make sure you use a good quality water-based lubricant as using a silicone lubricant may run the risk of degrading the toy.

The Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator comes presented in a simple cardboard box which features an image of the vibrator on the front, this packaging is not exactly what you would call discreet. Within the box, the vibrator comes nestled in a plastic inlay tray holding it, and the remote in place so that they are secure and don't rattle around in transit. It also comes with a little instruction booklet too ensuring you get the most pleasure out of your new toy. The vibrator does have a slight scent to it, but leaving it to air and cleaning with warm soapy water or a sex toy cleaner will help to eliminate the odour.

The Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator is powered by 2 x AAA batteries, which is great as they are cheap and easy to get hold of, and is operated by a wired remote control with a single push button. Batteries are not included with the toy so make sure you have some handy or pick some up separately. Also, the toy is not waterproof and is therefore unsuitable for taking in the bath or shower. You can however get a non-vibrating dildo version of this toy which is waterproof for £19.99.

The wire measures approximately 29 inches and is permanently attached to the base of the vibrator and plugs into the end of the controller. To turn the Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator on simply push the one touch button on the controller and the toy will start buzzing away. Keep pushing the button to go through each of the speed and pattern settings. This is a 10 function toy which has 3 speeds and 7 very different patterns so you can be sure to find a setting suitable to your needs and likes. To turn the toy off, simply push and hold down the button for a few seconds. The vibrator is fairly quiet, you could easily cover the sound with some music or by having the T.V. on, even just having a duvet on over you whilst using the toy could help to block out the sounds. The motor is about 1/3 of the way down the shaft below the head and the vibrations can be felt throughout the whole of the toy including the testicles.

Who is it for? Not only can this toy be used solo for a male or female, hand-held or hands-free, it can also be used as part of couples play so it's great for all. Lovehoney also state on their website that this can be attached to a harness using a 1.5 inch O-ring and be used as a strap on dildo. If you are still fairly new to using sex toys then I wouldn't recommend the Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator as it may be a little too big for you, unless bigger is your thing! If you're a beginner to using sex toys but really, really want to try a realistic vibrator then I would suggest getting your hands on a 6 inch version which smaller in both length and in girth for £21.99.

My Experience:

When I first took the Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator out of its packaging I was definitely a little worried. I was very much aware of the measurements upon purchasing the toy, but I'm only a teeny tiny 5'1" and hadn't yet had something that big inside me, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect - or if I could even take the whole toy!

Once I'd given the toy a good clean (this is an absolute must before use, and especially when using a toy for the first time), I applied a very generous amount of water-based lubricant. When applying lube, you kind of have to do it as if you were masturbating it. Just make sure you don't get any lube into the hole where the wire enters the toy at the base as it is not waterproof and could cause some damage.

Initially I decided to use the Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator as a dildo so that I could get used to it. At first I found inserting the toy a little uncomfortable, which I think may have just been because I haven't had anything this big in girth inside me. Once in though I soon got used to its size and absolutely loved the fuller feeling. The toy is firm, especially where the motor is placed, but the rest of the toy is soft and pliable at the same time so fits nice and comfortably, and it warms up to body temperature fairly quickly. When thrusting, the pronounced raised veins running along the whole shaft create a glorious ribbed sensation which feels absolutely incredible internally.

The next time I used the vibrator I decided to use it with the vibrations. During internal use the vibrations didn't do much for me at all. The shaft is straight and so didn't have much effect on my G-spot. The only times where the vibrations get their use are when I'm using the head of the toy on my clitoris or rubbing my vulva with the shaft. Occasionally though, when used internally I'll have the vibrations on on the highest speed setting just to add a little something extra.

Although I haven't used the toy vaginally whilst having it stuck to a surface via the suction cup base, I've tested it on a few surfaces, given it numerous firm tugs and each time it stays on the surfaces. It seems to work really well, but obviously I cannot comment on what it's like in use. Not everyone's surfaces are the same and everyone could use suction cup toys differently depending on angels, pressure and speeds, and so it may work for some and not other's.

Cleaning the vibrator is fairly easy. Warm soapy water or a specialised sex toy cleaner may be used. When using water with an anti-bacterial soap I would suggest getting a cotton bud to clean the head and testicles of the toy as there are ridges that aren't so easy to get to and may need some extra attention. Remember, the base of the toy needs paying extra attention too as you don't want any liquids entering the hole where the wire is placed.

Anything I Would Change?

As much as I love the Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator, unfortunately there are a few things that I would change if I could. The first thing is the order of the speed settings. I don't know why but for some reason the first speed setting that comes on is the highest vibration, then the medium, then the lowest, and following are the 7 patterns. Surely the toy should start off on its lowest speed setting, gradually increasing? As much as the vibrations on this toy don't do that much for me, I would still like to include them sometimes and I like to increase my power as I go along. Unfortunately I have to keep it on the highest setting when wanting a constant speed.

Another thing I would change would be the design of the wire and controller. In my opinion it would be better if the wire was permanently attached to the controller and plugged into the base of the toy, which would have a safety tab to seal and protect this part of the toy when not in use. This would also mean that design wise the toy could potentially become waterproof if wanting to use it as a dildo.

I really wanted to love the Lifelike 8 Inch Vibrator as an all-rounder, but unfortunately I'm not that impressed with the vibrations and the order in which they are in. In use as a dildo though, this toy is flawless and I cannot fault it one little bit! He gives me jelly legs every time, so he's definitely a keeper!
